Multi-resistant germs and bacteria, mutating influenza viruses and currently Covid-19 are among the challenges of our time and affect many areas of our everyday life. In this context, Hydroliq Pure Water Solutions is playing an important part within this problem solving.
Solution
Hydroliq has further developed a technology that has gone into the literature as chlorine alkali electrolysis and was developed especially for Russian space travel in the 1960s.
Hydroliq produces highly stable water-sodium chloride compounds, which disinfect surfaces without leaving any caustic residues.
Effectiveness
An electrochemical manufacturing process produces a disinfectant solution that is pH-neutral and at the same time very stable.
According to the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health Hydroliq Pure Water Solutions are internationally approved biocidal products, disinfect and eliminate
- bacteria
- viruses (enveloped viruses, such as influenza viruses and Covid-19)
- yeast (mold, candida)

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does hydroliq kill the various pathogens ?
Virus: Hydroliq destroys the protein of the virus. In a first phase, this means the virus is not able to dock anymore (since the uvula is destroyed). In the next phase the “body” of the virus is completely destroyed.
Bacteria: through the disinfection with Hydroliq there is a ion shift occurring and this causes that the cell mantle of the monad burst.
NB: Resistance is therefore not possible with Hydroliq!
2. What is the contact time of Hydroliq ?
There is a contact reaction (reaction time is within seconds)
3. Is there specific literature/data sheets on Covid 19?
See summary of the attached Lab Test Report (viruzidal), where the efficacy against SARS CoV-2 (Covid-19) is confirmed.
4. If Covid-19 room has been disinfected with Hydroliq, does it mean that all healthcare workers will be required to wear is a mask and no other PPE?
As long as infected people are in the room, the complete protective measures must always be followed, no matter what kind of disinfection has been done.
5. What is the specific disinfection recommendation i.e., after how long and how often should the theatre be disinfected?
We don’t know the rules and standards in your country. In Switzerland it is standard to carry out a complete disinfection after every operation.
In a hospital surrounding disinfection needs to be done permanently, in some areas several times per day and in the operating theatre after every patient.
There is no limitation in the number of disinfection processes with Hydroliq solutions. As mentioned, in Switzerland, the operating theater is disinfected several times per day.
How long disinfectant stays in the air depends on many factors, i.e. how it has been nebulized, room temperature, room humidity, ventilation etc.
6. How can 99% pure water be a disinfectant- The scientific description of how this works to a medical expert? Why not then just use ordinary water? What exactly have Hydroliq water done to the water to reach that level as a disinfectant ?
Hydroliq works by chlorine alkali electrolysis (which is a standard process according to the common literature)
-> Purified water and sodium chloride -> electrolysis -> result is a pH-neutral, hypochloric acid with a very high redox potential.
Water is just the carrier. Ultimately, the effectiveness is due to the hypochlorous acid (HOCL)

7. Compared to other disinfectants how cost effective is it as well as how sustainable is it?
We can generally say that in direct comparison to hydrogen peroxide, our solution is more economic (however, there are several hydrogen peroxide products on the market, with different pricings)
There must also indirect costs be considered: Hydrogen peroxide is highly toxic and destroys material and equipment. After disinfection with hydrogen peroxide, the room must be ventilated during at least 3 hours before it can be used again without protection clothes.
There is nothing more sustainable than Hydroliq, since there are no toxic ingredients and no toxic decay/residues after disperse of the product.
8. In ICU how long does the air remain disinfected up to the next disinfection?
After disinfection, the room remains germfree just until the next person is entering the room, since this person may contaminate the room again. This is the case with any kind of disinfection solution. This is why a sterilization process needs to be continuously repeated. It is impossible to state that, without repeating the sterilization process, a room remains germfree for a longer period of time (also not with hydrogen peroxide).
9. Should we close the air circulation system in theatre when disinfection is in progress?
Yes, ideally the air circulation system should be closed during disinfection process. If this is not possible the turnover of air must be considered and the disinfection process / nebulization needs more time.
10. Is Hydroliq Professional more potent than Hydroliq Air on surfaces?
The performance is identic for both products. It’s just another type of application.
The concentration of both products is the same. However, Hydroliq AIR has a different structure, this is why it is suitable to be nebulized.
Hydroliq PROFESSIONAL is designed for spray disinfection only.
